I’m a late convert to the Buff—the multi-colored, multifunctional piece of headwear that the TV show Survivor made popular. I’ve gotten a few of them in race packets over the years and I even split one with my co-worker and Buff aficionado, Mikaela last winter, but it’s not something that I have to wear when I’m running or doing other stuff outside. It wasn’t until we started carrying a brand of hats, headbands, and Buff-like products from a Skida, that made me realize the benefits and simplicity of what is ultimately a piece of fabric sewn in the shape of a tube. Skida has done something a little different with their headwear. The patterns are very feminine—a lot of florals ranging from pastels to bright colors and they have used a super soft fabric that feels nice against your skin. Skida’s products are warm, absorb sweat, and keep your hair from blowing all over the place.
I’ve been running outside in the mornings this past week and I have to admit, I get it now. I don't see any reason for me not to have one stashed in every coat I own. I love these so much that I just gave my friend Karen one for her 100 kilometer race this weekend in eastern Iowa called the Mines of Spain. Karen will start running at 8am on Friday and run through the night with soggy feet and questionable judgment. My hope for Karen is that she won't have to worry about her very curly hair getting in the way. I know she is going to finish (she's one of the most determined, tenacious people I know). I just want her to look good doing it! You can follow Karen’s progress here
