Outdoor Goals: One Month In
From Great Outdoor Store
We are one month into working towards out outdoor goals for 2019. I think it's safe to say that the weather has put a little bit of a damper on all of us, except for Neil and Ansel. They do have the benefit of being in a heated swimming pool and Ansel has taken to the water like a fish. Meghan has also guided Juniper through the 2nd level of puppy class, so we are expecting that soon Junie will be driving a car or something equally amazing.
For those of us who have decided to hit the trails, we are in (almost) full-on training mode--or at least signing up for more events to make us feel like we are in training mode. Mikaela and Becca have both registered for the new spring 1/2 marathon, the Sioux Falls Skedaddle , which is hosted by our downtown neighbors 605 Running Co. Izzy has been braving the cold and running outside when he can, slowly increasing his mileage to avoid injury and burnout. I (Nancy) have now actually registered for the Black Hills 50 and can be seen most mornings running what feels like millions of laps around the indoor track at Sanford Wellness Center. I've also registered for the Chilly Cheeks 10 mile run on April 6th. Any event that includes chili and beer is a winner in my book.
Emily is busy collecting more plants and looking forward to spring weather. Her vegetable garden might be legendary this time around, and she's bringing as much 'outside' indoors as her roommates allow. She is also taking care of this plant that has been around GOS since, well, forever. The plant is about to start living its best life.
